Education APPS

At Learningpod, our mission was to provide students with free access to high-quality educational content. In support of this goal, we partnered with multiple organizations to design and deliver a suite of learning products across platforms.

As the founding designer, I owned the end-to-end experience, ensuring each app was thoughtfully designed and optimized for its operating system while maintaining a consistent and intuitive learning experience for students.

OpenStax is a nonprofit initiative based at Rice University that provides free, openly licensed educational resources.

Powered by Learningpod, the OpenStax mobile app enabled students to access workbooks anytime and anywhere. Students could download materials, practice exercises offline, and track their progress directly from their iPhones, making learning more flexible and accessible.

Core Score is a free educational app that provides students with math practice aligned to the Common Core State Standards.

Students work through short, five-question practice sets that include answers and step-by-step explanations, helping them build confidence and mastery as they progress. Teachers can create and manage student accounts, monitor usage and performance, and track progress across standards. They can also review problems by standard and preview the exact questions, answers, and explanations students receive.

As the design lead, I focused on creating a clear, intuitive experience that balanced student engagement with teacher oversight, ensuring the app was effective for both learning and instruction.

Stellar Vocabulary Grade 5 is a free Android app designed to help children build vocabulary through engaging, interactive lessons.

The app combines game-like activities with structured lesson plans, encouraging students to learn new words in a way that is both enjoyable and effective. By balancing play and pedagogy, Stellar Vocabulary supports consistent practice while keeping learners motivated.

Designing for education requires balancing clarity, engagement, and trust. Across Learningpod and its partner apps, the goal was not just to deliver content, but to create learning experiences that felt approachable, consistent, and effective across platforms. By grounding design decisions in student needs while supporting educators behind the scenes, these products helped make high-quality learning more accessible and sustainable at scale.
